In a reflection of the impact of the frequent rise within the prices of petrol and diesel on maintaining vehicles, dealers in Maharashtra are seeing an increase in inquiries also because of the sale of mainly E-Scooters, electric two-wheelers, and three-wheelers.
According to dealers, they’re facing a shortage of those two-wheelers and three-wheelers within the largest city within the Marathwada region of the state.
“People willing to shop for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers are now on a roll because the scooters aren’t available now unlike within the past,” a dealer told.
In Maharashtra, prices of petrol have soared to Rs 98.72 per liter which of diesel to Rs 89.75 per liter, a petroleum pump owner said on Wednesday.
“In the initial phase of the unlock down, our company administered a web ad campaign which helped us to grow our business. Later, as prices of fuel went up, inquiries for electric scooters and autos also increased, especially within the last month,” said a dealer.
“Before February 15, I had 22 electric bikes available. Later, I ordered 40 more bikes. of these 62 bikes were sold out by February 19. a complete of 37 electric bikes have already been booked before March 3,” a dealer said.
The dealer added that he wont to receive 600 inquiries for electric scooters a month earlier and wont to sell around 15 electric bikes.
“Now the amount of inquiries has gone up to 700 while the amount of bikes being sold during a month has reached 100,” he said.
In 2020 when rates of fuel were comparatively low, we used to sell 2 to 5 electric rickshaws a month. But now this number has gone up to fifteen during a month. Earlier, electric rickshaws for passengers were in demand, but now the trend is to shop for electric rickshaws for transporting goods around 15 electric bikes.
“Now the amount of inquiries has gone up to 700 while the amount of bikes being sold during a month has reached 100,” he said.
One of the dealers who deal in electric cars, said people are now enquiring about these cars before taking a turn purchasing a replacement four-wheeler that runs on traditional fuel.
He said the shortage of infrastructure for charging the battery of electrical vehicles may be a major issue that daunts prospective customers.
“If this issue is resolved, the sale of EVs will definitely pick up,”
